About the Journal
The Revista Jurídica de les Illes Balears (RJIB) is a highly technical legal publication that was created in 2002 in response to the need for a space for communication, creation and criticism in the legal field, capable of gathering and promoting research, analysis and application of the law by legal operators under the principles of freedom, pluralism, independence, rigour, rigor, exigency and with a vocation of openness to all territorial areas.
Since its beginnings, RJIB has been co-published by the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands and by the Foundation of the Bar Association of the Balearic Islands - FICAIB (formerly the Foundation for Legal Practice), which is made up of the Bar Association of the Balearic Islands and the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands as ex officio members of the Foundation and, for more than twenty years, has counted on the collaboration of legal institutions such as the Notary Association of the Balearic Islands, the Bar Association of the Balearic Islands, the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, the University of the Balearic Islands, the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands and also the Island Councils of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
The first issue was published in 2003 and, since then, it has been published annually in paper format and, since issue 10, also in electronic format; in any case, it is an open access journal available to all through the internet.
The first director of the Journal was the illustrious Mallorcan jurist and politician Fèlix Pons Irazazábal (1942-2010).
It is currently directed by the President of the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands, Mr. Carlos Gómez Martínez, and both the Editorial Board and the Editorial Board are made up of jurists of recognised prestige.
The RJIB is currently structured in the following sections:
- STUDIES - Monographic section
- COMMENTARIES AND NOTES
- COMMENTS ON JURISPRUDENCE
- NORMATIVE ACTIVITY and REGISTRY ACTIVITY
- BOOKS
The studies and other contributions published in this Journal express exclusively the opinion of their authors.
